How to create a memecoin on Penny.fun
Most memecoin launchers ask you to connect a wallet before you can do anything. Penny.fun works differently: you fill in a short form, pair your coin with a real penny stock, and launch it by posting a ready-made command to @PairAPenny on X. Here is the whole process, start to finish.
What you need
- A Penny.fun account (just a username and password)
- An X account to post the launch command from
- A name, ticker, picture and reason for your coin
Step 1: Create an account
Open Penny.fun and choose "Create account" on the welcome screen. Sign-up is only a username and a password — no email, and no wallet connection at any point. Guests can browse the site freely, but you need an account to launch a coin.
Step 2: Fill in the coin details
Press the create button and give your coin a name, a ticker of up to eight characters, a picture, and a short reason it exists. Every coin launches with a fixed 4% buy and 4% sell tax, and there is no initial buy — no one, including you, gets supply before anyone else.
Step 3: Pair a penny stock
This is what makes a Penny.fun coin different. Pick a real, publicly traded penny stock from the supported list — names like GoPro (GPRO), Opendoor (OPEN) or Clover Health (CLOV) — and your coin is paired with it. The pairing is part of the coin's identity and is included in the launch command.
Step 4: Copy the launch post
When you press launch, a box appears with the exact post already written for you:
@PairAPenny Launch GoPro Inc. (GPRO) - a coin for people who still film everything - Paired stock: GPRO (GoPro Inc.) - Tax: 4% buy / 4% sellUse "Copy post + image" so the wording and the picture copy together — pasting into X attaches both. If your browser only pastes the text, use "Copy image only" or download the picture and attach it yourself.
Step 5: Post it on X to launch
Publish the post from your own X account with the picture attached. This post is the launch — the site itself creates nothing until it goes out. The @PairAPenny reply bot reads your post, checks the pairing, mints the coin and replies to you with the link. That reply is your receipt.
What it costs and what it doesn't
Building a coin on Penny.fun is free, and because launch happens through a public X post, the site never asks for wallet access, a signature or your keys. Your Penny.fun account is only used to keep track of the coins you have built.
Penny.fun is not affiliated with any listed company, exchange or broker. Nothing here is financial advice.
